Switzerland Arrests Senior FIFA Officials in Corruption Probe

Two criminal investigations into corruption in FIFA have resulted in the arrest of seven senior officials in Zurich. Swiss prosecutors launched a criminal case into the bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to be held in Russia and Qatar. Seven senior FIFA officials are among 14 who have been indicted. FIFA plans to go ahead with elections for its president on Friday. Current president Sepp Blatter was not among those arrested.
FIFA has insisted there would be no rerun of the World Cup bidding process for 2018 or 2022.
FIFA's headquarters were also raided with electronic data and documents seized. Read more.
